Alvear Palace Hotel, Buenos Aires

"There is no doubt that this hotel is the leading hotel in the city of Buenos Aires, I dare say Argentina. A very charming old world hotel with lots of marble ,some real and some not so real, and all that glittery gold . The rooms are well appointed, functional and well maintained.
Each floor has a designated butler who is stationed just outside the elevators ,as you arrive at your guest floor,in this case, a very well spoken and groomed gentleman who was not only courteous but competent and helpful in providing a professional introducing to the services the butler team offers, without getting into a lengthy room introduction, this was well done.

The  public areas , in particular the bar just off the lobby are quite stunning. The hotel charges prices that come with a luxury hotel and have the clientele to go with it. In the afternoons you can watch the high society of Buenos Aires meet in the bar for drinks or lunch. A pisco sour will set you back a cool US$ 26 , even by international standards, this is a hefty price ,even in such a nice environment.

This is most definitely a classy international luxury hotel, if they were to go the extra mile a little more, they would be word class. Check out was very early in the morning , it would have been great ,if at least one of the guys standing around in the lobby had helped with the luggage and if a coffee to go and a sandwich had been offered. This is very common in luxury five star properties in Asia. Overall, the staff in the hotel were courteous and competent, I feel the Argentinian mentality and air of arrogance they carry around may simply prevent them for going the extra mile. This was , however still the least arrogant experience of any I had in Argentina.

One great thing, wifi works perfectly in the guest rooms and if you need to exchange cash into pesos,do it at the hotel, the rates were better than anywhere else, including the bank at the airport"
